Located in the metropolitan Atlanta area, Morrison Shearer, Inc, General and Mechanical Contractors, offers a wide variety of commercial construction services. With more than 90 years of combined experience in this field, MSI is dedicated to providing stellar customer service, project compliance, and timely response, all accompanied by a continued commitment to excellence.

By overseeing all of the components of a project, we are able to provide a higher quality product at a competitive cost. Our ability to review, comprehend, and manage all construction phases, from inception, design, bid, procurement, installation, and closeout, has allowed us to avoid many of the obstacles typically encountered by other contractors. Our superior craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail has earned us an exceptional reputation in the industry.

The MSI team does not cut corners; we ensure every detail of every project is completed to our client’s satisfaction. With ongoing safety training, an established safety program, and strict adherence to governing safety guidelines and rules, MSI places heavy emphasis on ensuring every precaution is taken during the course of our projects, both in occupied and unoccupied spaces and facilities.

Meet Our Team

Dan Morrison

Born December 11th 1950, Dan and David Shearer founded Morrison Shearer, Inc. Dan and David were friends from childhood and the two friends used their vast experience in the building trades industry to build Morrison Shearer into the company it has become today. His knowledge of building sciences, his business sense, and his unwavering loyalty to his friends, employees, and clients was always ever present. Without Dan MSI would not be what it is today. At just 63 years of age, Dan passed on June 1, 2014. We continue to this day to benefit from his contributions to our company and he is missed every day.

David Shearer - CEO

CEO, David Shearer has over 50 years of experience in commercial building and mechanical construction, service, and automatic temperature controls industries. David started his career in these fields with the Dekalb County Board of Education in 1972. David attended Dekalb College School of Business, Dekalb Technical School, and graduated with honors from MTI-JATT with a degree in Building Trades. David formed his first company; Shearer Control Systems, Inc. in 1981 and partnered with Dan Morrison to form MSI as a profit center with-in SCS to manage our general construction opportunities. David purchased Conditioned Air Engineers in 1986, As the company evolved MSI’s growth outpaced that of SCS and CAE and the decision was made to sell CAE with MSI taking the lead. Dan and David remained partners until 2014 when Dan passed. David is now sole owner. In 2024 David formed MSI Facilities Support Services, FSS, to support the service needs of our many building owners and managers. David enjoys many outdoor activities, travel, flying, guitar, community involvement, giving back, fund raising for selected charities, and mentoring and sharing his knowledge of this business with those just entering our industry.

David Dunkerley - General Manager

With more than two decades of experience in building construction, David brings a deep-rooted passion for building and a track record of leadership to his work. Raised in a family of builders, David gained hands-on experience from an early age working alongside his father in the custom home building business. That early exposure shaped both his craftsmanship and his commitment to delivering high-quality projects. After attending the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and honing his skills for 11 years with his father he joined Morrison Shearer Inc. to broaden his career in commercial construction. Starting as a project superintendent, David immersed himself in field operations before advancing to General Manager. Today, he plays a pivotal role in business development, estimating, and overseeing large-scale projects and operations at MSI. David’s leadership, technical acumen, and ability to navigate complex challenges have been instrumental in driving MSI’s continued growth and reputation for excellence. A proud father of three sons, he enjoys golfing, cycling, motorcycle riding, and traveling with family and friends.

Clay Hamlin - President

Clay graduated from Georgia Tech in 2004 with high honors in Mechanical Engineering. While at Georgia Tech, he was introduced to the construction industry during two years of co-op assignments with McKenney’s mechanical contractors. Following an 11-year stint with DuPont in which he gained diverse experience in operations, engineering, consulting, and management, he joined Morrison Shearer, Inc. He quickly immersed himself in all facets of MSI through hands-on experience in project estimation, supervision, management, and business development. Clay was named Vice President of MSI in 2020 before being appointed President in February of 2024. He is dedicated to moving the company forward by developing client relationships, building a high-performing internal team, and expanding our network of trusted subcontractors. When he is not in the office, you will find him on the soccer or basketball sidelines cheering on his daughter, travelling, or playing tennis or golf.
